Included in Ticket Price - 1:30-3:00p.m. - Artisan MeatUp!, a showcase of local food artisans, will take place prior to the show.

Legendary Italian butcher Dario Cecchini is known all over the world for his over-the-top style and his ‘no waste’ philosophy.  This ‘nose to tail’ afternoon will put his artistry on display as he carves a pig on stage and puts on a dynamic presentation full of storytelling and maybe a little AC/DC!

Dario’s family has been in the butchery business for eight generations in the small town of Panzano-in-Chianti and doing ‘nose to tail’ cooking since before it was the hot culinary term.  “A butcher represents the most delicate link in the food chain.  He must take the responsibility to show and teach respect for the animal that has given its life to sustain us,” he says.  Cecchini believes that “no cut is any better than another, the cow is not made up of only the filet and steak.  Every bit can be great, from head to tail, if cooked properly.”  His philosophy of “no waste” is applied in his butcher shop and his restaurants Solociccia and Officina della Bistecca.

His butcher shop, Antica Macelleria Cecchini, is a sight to behold, with AC/DC usually blaring from the speakers and Dario behind the counter, wielding a cleaver and quoting Dante’s Inferno.

Cecchini his been featured on “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations,” PBS’ “Dream of Italy,” and in countless publications such as the New York Times, Bon Appetit.com, and Lucky Peach.

Marcia Boyesen and Roger Latzgo began collaborating on musical programs nearly two decades ago.  Since that time, the duo has won national acclaim, including the prestigious International Angel Awards for Excellence in Media. Their numerous recordings are popular worldwide.  Together they have studied with art song masters Elly Ameling and Dalton Baldwin. Marcia's lyric soprano voice combines with Roger's classical experience in piano and guitar to weave a musical tapestry that brings their Story Songs to life. In their  Scandinavian Heritage-theme program, Marcia and Roger perform Hans Christian Andersen Songs & Stories. Songs include Roger's musical settings of "The Ugly Duckling," "The Steadfast Tin Soldier," "The Little Match Girl" and a musical version of a Hans Christian Andersen story titled "The Millennium." In it, Andersen imagines what travel in Europe will be like one thousand years from his own time. The master storyteller spins it with uncanny accuracy.  Marcia and Roger are on a musical mission: to enhance understanding of Scandinavian culture and increase an appreciation of quality literature through the power of music.

      Movie Synopsis

Directed by Robert Zemeckis and based on children's author Chris Van Allsburg's modern holiday classic of the same name, The Polar Express revolves around Billy (Hayden McFarland), who longs to believe in Santa Claus but finds it quite difficult to do so, what with his family's dogged insistence that all of it, from the North Pole, to the elves, to the man himself, is all just a myth. This all changes, however, on Christmas Eve, when a mysterious train visits Billy in the middle of the night, promising to take him and a group of other lucky children to the North Pole for a visit with Santa. The train's conductor (Tom Hanks) along with the other passengers help turn Billy's crisis in faith into a journey of self-discovery. A long-time fan of Van Allsburg's book, Hanks also helped produce the film. Author: Tracie Cooper

Ronnie Milsap ranks as the pre-eminent country soul singer of his generation. He also represents much more than any two-word definition can convey: a humble, overtly friendly fellow with a talent as vast and multi-dimensional as the American South. Milsap provided country music with one of its most important voices, as the genre was moving beyond its rural roots into the mainstream of modern entertainment. Country music couldn’t have found a man more suited to lead the charge. Steeped in the mountain music of the North Carolina hills and schooled in classical piano, Milsap early in life found inspiration in a wide variety of music. Even as he mastered Beethoven and Mozart, his heart belonged to hardcore country and rhythm-and-blues -- music he heard beamed from powerful radio stations located in Nashville. Those earthy sounds about life and love provided a young, impoverished blind boy with a connection to a world beyond the harsh reality of his daily existence.
