Central Wiscoinsin Book Festival: University of Wisconsin Faculty Reading

We're thrilled to be working with the Center for Visual Arts in Wausau to include a special exhibit of poetry and art during the Central Wisconsin Book Festival!

"Trace - Art and Poetry" features more than 30 poems from members of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets matched with original work from Midwestern artists, all based around the theme of Trace: it could be tracing a route, a pattern or the past, or it could be interpreted as an element or small amount of something.

Trace will open at the Center for Visual Arts on Friday, Sept. 28 with a gala from 5-7 p.m. that will include not only the Trace combinations, but also a unique, on-the-spot mix of poetry and art from street poet Paul Wiegel and artist Lois Wierzba. During the gala, and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., viewers can vote on a People's Choice award for the best combination of poetry and art.

A reading of many of the poems from the writers who created them is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30 and the awards will also be handed out then. The show will hang in the CVA's Caroline S. Mark Gallery through Nov. 10, 2018.

These events are free and open to the public. Call MCPL at 715-261-7230 or the CVA at 715-842-4545 for more information.

Join us for a fun evening featuring a variety of writing, read live by the University of Wisconsin faculty members who wrote them, during the Central Wisconsin Book Festival!

To start off the 2018 Central Wisconsin Book Festival, we're hosting readings from four different UW faculty, all gathering at Sconni's Alehouse & Eatery in Schofield, who will read their own fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Joining us will be: Poet Pat Dyjak, assistant professor of English at UW-Stevens Point; Poet Danielle Hale, writing specialist and adjunct faculty member at UW-Stevens Point at Wausau; B.J. Hollars, author of several non-fiction books and associate professor of English at UW-Eau Claire (pictured, and one of our 2017 book festival guests); and Jill Stukenberg, associate professor of English at UW-Stevens Point at Wausau, sharing her original fiction.

Free to attend and open to the public. Call the Marathon County Public Library at 715-261-7230 for more information.

Support for the 2018 Central Wisconsin Book Festival was provided through the Community Arts Grant Program of the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin, with funds provided by the Wisconsin Arts Board, a state agency, the Community Foundation, and the B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation. Support is also provided by the Marathon County Public Library Foundation, the Friends of the Marathon County Public Library, Wisconsin Public Radio, Sconni's Alehouse & Eatery, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Wausau Lecture & Fine Arts series, the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, Barnes & Noble and Janke Book Store.
