I went to the Black Cat this past weekend expecting to enjoy the Little Dragon concert. My friend and I drove all the way from Baltimore to DC. I purchased my tickets at ticketalternative.com two days prior to the concert. I printed out one ticket which I brought with me the night of the concert. I presented my printed ticket and ID to enter. The young man scanned my ticket twice and asked me to wait. When he returned he informed me that someone else had already used my ticket. I showed him the ticket confirmation that was sent to my email. He then accused me of being a scam artist. He was loud and EXTREMELY RUDE. As I tried to figure out the situation, he got louder and louder. Calling me a liar, a scam artist that just got caught. His behavior was completely inappropriate. What is even worst HE was the MANAGEMENT! It was a huge inconvenience. My friend and I had to return to Baltimore because she is not going to leave me in a car while she attends a concert for 3hrs. We were both out $18.00 a ticket and EXTREMELY disappointed that we missed Little Dragon. If I showed him verification that the ticket was purchased by me, isn't it obvious that the scam artist would be in the concert. How effective is a policy to show ID with the ticket when someone got in with a ticket that had my name on it? I was HIGHLY offended and embarrassed to be called a scam artist when I had ALL proof including receipt that I purchased the ticket. Not to mention I missed one of my favorite bands because of your staff's inability to check IDs when scanning tickets. Even after calling ticketalternative.com, they sided with the venue because "they are their clients". So, it doesn't matter if you purchase your tickets honestly, it doesn't matter if you have your ID AND receipt of purchase, any ole person can intercept your ticket and simply arrive before you and you're labeled a scam artist... Meanwhile some hacker is gonna get in on YOUR MONEY.

I love the Black Cat - a great place for small shows with a loaded bar, loaded jukebox, a pool table, and a pinball machine!

Great venue to have chilled time. It's a get-away place from usual DC places. It has original insite filled with 80's décor and dark rooms. Pool table, cabins, few bars make it more like an alternative 80's-90's lounge place. Downstairs room can get quite hot, but outside area saves from that. Usually the music is pretty good: alternative, pop-rock, pop-electro, little of house and dance. I like this place. It's one of a kind.

Kind of a "poseur" type of place. It actually is better to go for a drink than to go for a concert. The place is warm and not really cool looking and the people working there are not always super nice, but some of them are.
Description

The Black Cat is a nightclub and live music venue located in the U St. district of Washington, DC. The venue first opened its doors to the public in 1993, created with the sole purpose of showcasing the best in live independent music.

As far as this Black Cat's concerned, there's no such thing as bad luck. The Washington, D.C venue opened to near immediate success, catering to the city's long-neglected underground music scene. Soon, due to its growing popularity, the Black Cat was forced to expand. In 2001, the venue moved three doors down from its original space. Today, the Black Cat Washington features two different concert rooms (the Mainstage and the Backstage) and the Red Room Bar.

However, architecture and interior design aside, Washington’s Black Cat would be nothing without its line-ups. The Black Cat schedule of events takes pride in booking performances from artists of all levels; from local up and coming bands, to those already established on a national and international level. This includes the big names. Korn, The Roots, Sum 41, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kelly Osbourne, Le Tigre, The White Stripes and Beck are just a few of the acts featured on the Black Cat schedule in the past.

Whether you're a loyal customer or a relative newcomer to the underground scene, there's no better time to visit this hidden gem. Make Eventful your source for all the latest events happening at The Black Cat Washington, D.C., and check out the schedule right here!
