George Kahumoku Jr.'s "Seeds of Aloha" Documentary

The “Seeds Of Aloha” film tells the story of an extraordinary life lived by Hawaii’s Renaissance Man, George Kahumoku Jr. He is a multiple Grammy Award & Hoku Award winning master slack key guitarist, songwriter, world-traveling performer, high school teacher and college professor, artist and sculptor, storyteller and writer, farmer and entrepreneur. His music, teaching, art, and influence have reached across the ocean from Hawaii to the mainland USA, and all the way to Europe and Japan. To witness the Aloha Spirit in practice is to know George. Whether you find him tending his Taro at daybreak or on stage under the evening lights, you will find George smiling as he sows the “Seeds Of Aloha.” George’s Hawaiian life is a harmonious example of how he is a product of the aina (the land) and the mele (the song), and how the two are connected and work together. This is the premise of this feature length documentary that was filmed on Maui, Oahu, Kauai, Hawaii, and on the US Mainland. George’s recollections, along with the commentary of 88 of George’s fellow musicians, friends and students tell the story. The story takes you from his home shores of Kealia Hawaii, to world stages. In everything he does, from the watering of his kalo and the feeding of his goats, to his performances while on tour, George Kahumoku Jr. exudes aloha, and he treats everyone he meets like 'ohana instantly. It is in his everyday activities, and how he goes about them that we will discover the roots of his Hawaiian life, and how it has made him the man he is today, and why he is a cherished legend of Hawaiian music and culture.
