Join Us For SkillsUSA Scholarship Night!

We invite you to join for our SkillsUSA Scholarship Awards Night May 22,2019 Blackstone Valley Regional Tech High School Start time is 4:30 pm   We are thrilled to announce our SkillsUSA Scholarship Awards Night at Blackstone Valley Regional Technical High School, located in Upton, Ma. Our gold medal winners will be attending to accept their awards, prize packs and travel scholarship monies. This provides you our members a unique opportunity to meet our state champions and learn from them what they thought of the competition and what inspires them. You will also be invited to tour the school machine tool lab. You will also get to meet Blackstone's machine tool instructor Mr. James Woodman. Mr. Woodman loves his school, students and SkillsUSA.  For many years Mr. Woodman helped organize all the metal trades competition which included welding, automated manufacturing, sheet metal plus our three competitions! That's a lot to manage and keep straight! We thank Mr. Woodman for all of his hard work and efforts. Although they are our state champions, they are in the process of completing their paperwork so we can learn more about their future goals.  But here is what we do know.   Our CNC Turning State Champion, Richard Sousa is a returning champ! Richard is a senior this year at Diman RVTHS. Richard was our gold medalist last year for CNC Turning and at nationals, he came home with the silver! Richard is working industry, and from what we hear he is amazing at his job site. And yes, he is working at a BTMA member company! That member company got involved with the school he attends and SkillsUSA because of the success of the students.    Our CNC Tech State Champion is Bryan Richards. Bryan is a senior and from Whittier Vocational RTHS. Whittier Vocational is the same school that last year's CNC Tech Champion attended! Interesting to note the advisory board at the school has lots of BTMA members who are engaging the students! Bryan is a senior and is very focused on his career in the industry. He looks forward to mastering his craft by continuing his education while he works in the industry.   Our CNC Milling state champion is Devon Mullen from Assabet Valley RTHS. Devon is a junior at Assabet and is already planning a career in the industry long term. Devon was highly motivated to succeed at the MA SkillsUSA competition. He wanted to make it to the national competition to meet other students who were in the manufacturing trades! He looks forward to the national competition and long-term plans on working in the industry as a machinist.   The instructors and families of our champions have been invited to attend the event, and we hope to see you there.
