      Prison Tour & Moonshine Tasting

Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary Tour & Moonshine Tasting Bus Tour Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary was the last place you wanted to be sent to. Known as the “End of the Line,” Brushy was a maximum-security prison that held murderers, robbers, rapists, evil men who committed heartless crimes with little remorse. Once you arrived, there was little chance you’d leave. Prison sentences were 200 years or more. The stories that live on at Brushy. The voices that echo down “3 Walk.” They will all be yours to witness when we take this bus tour. This will be an experience like no other. It will surprise you. Terrify you. Make you wonder what it would’ve been like to be locked up in there for the rest of your God-given life. This guided tour is not recommended for young children as the stories told by the guards will be graphic in nature and not suitable for younger ears. Also, no one under the age of 21 will be allowed in the moonshine distillery. Minors can come on this trip but we suggest later aged teens and they must be with an adult at all times. While at the prison, we will experience a prison/cafeteria style lunch at the Warden’s Table Restaurant. Don't worry, it's a nice clean environment and you won't be eating prison food. They offer a variety of southern food, serving up everything from classics BBQ plates and loaded potatoes to BBQ nachos and cheeseburgers. They even serve beer for those who want a nice cold adult beverage. It’s Southern cooking with a twist and hospitality at its best. After lunch and our guided tour you will be able to walk through the prison again on your own to slow things down for pictures and spend more time in the areas you found most interesting. Those who want to indulge in a moonshine tasting will be given a paid voucher to use during your "free time". Given Brushy’s history and the historic backwoods, one-step-ahead-of-the-law reputation of Moonshine, they knew it was the perfect backdrop to begin producing “End of The Line” Moonshine. Brushy Mountain State Pen held some of the country’s most dangerous criminals. But the one thing that struck fear into their heartless souls, was the day they heard that huge iron gate slam shut behind ‘em!  For that day, they knew they’d reached the “end of the line.” What better name to give their Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary distilled and bottled spirit… than End Of The Line Tennessee Moonshine. Flavors: Apple Pie, Peach Cobbler, Fruit Punch, Blackberry, Honey, Cinnarum, Frosted Orange, Butterscotch, and Scared Straight. We will stop for supper on our way home. We will update this itinerary with the exact location soon. We always choose places with a variety of menu items as well as highly recommended by locals. We like "Mom & Pop" places and rarely choose chain restaurants. You won't be disappointed. We will meet at Dunham’s Sports in Scottsboro at 6:30am and a second pickup location at the Goodwill store in Kimball, TN at 7:15am. We should arrive back in Scottsboro around 8pm. Meals are not included in the ticket price to allow you the option to spend as little or as much as you want.$79 - includes transportation on modern charter bus with bathroom onboard, admission to Brushy Mountain Prison, a private guided prison tour with extra stories and history about the prison, a moonshine tasting, extended time to re-enter the prison and explore on your own, time to eat lunch at The Wardens's Table, browse the prison grounds and visit the prison gift store. We will play bus bingo for prizes. We will watch a movie during our drive time if DVD/TV equipment is available on the bus. All meals will be at your own expense to allow you to spend as little or as much as you want. NOTE - James Earl Ray, the convicted assassin of Martin Luther King, Jr., spent his time at Brushy.
