Function: Plate Making Sessions with Cannupa Hanska Luger

Join Cannupa Hanska Luger, the Coe Center for the Arts, and Santa Fe Clay for Function plate making sessions! Function, a large-scale interactive artwork, will begin with a series of community workshops in which Luger will lead participants in the production of plates and will conclude with a dinner on August 15, 2019, served family-style in the Coe Center parking lot. At the dinner, participants will share the food and at the end of the meal, stand and shatter their dishes on the ground in what Luger calls, “an action of rebellion against the preciousness and driving consumption of art today.” Luger will then grind the remnants into clay grog to be used as a stabilizing tool in his next creations. Function will be simultaneously profound and silly, memorable and ephemeral, triumphant and mundane with the end goal of “turning a table into a bridge.” Register for one plate making session, each session limited to 20 participants. Your registration to make a plate also gives you a ticket to join the August 15th interactive art piece/dinner party! Adults $25 Students $10 12 and under Free Community Support - Your support will enable more people, from all walks of life, to participate in this unique interactive experience. Levels: Earthenware: $250 Stoneware: $500 Porcelain: $1,000
