      2018 AAUW Empowered Woman Luncheon

The AAUW Empowered Woman Luncheon celebrates strong, independent women of integrity who are role models in our community. This year we will honor Santa Barbara's Police Chief Lori Luhnow. Enjoy lunch and a video keynote message from Chief Luhnow with introduction by Santa Barbara’s first female Lieutenant Marylinda Arroyo.  Lori Luhnow was appointed as Police Chief of Santa Barbara in July 2016. As Police Chief, she is the highest ranking law enforcement official in the City. Prior to her appointment, Chief Luhnow was with the San Diego Police Department for 27 years, most recently in the rank of Police Captain. Chief Luhnow received a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from UC San Diego, and a Master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.  About AAUWThe American Association of University Women (AAUW) empowers women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. Our nonpartisan, nonprofit organization has more than 170,000 members and supporters across the United States, as well as 1,000 local branches and 800 college and university partners. Since AAUW’s founding in 1881, our members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day — educational, social, economic, and political.
