Investigations of Harassment Complaints in Community College Districts
Through participation in a simulated harassment investigation, this workshop provides insight into handling difficult and complex investigations of harassment complaints, including:
- Whether borderline harassment complaints trigger the duty to investigate
- Who should investigate when the accused is high-level management
- Responding to witnesses who make surprise inculpatory statements
- Controlling demanding, suspicious, or hostile witnesses
- Handling difficult union and legal representatives
- Formulating findings of fact when there are credibility problems
- Properly notifying the complainant and accused of investigation results.
Participants are presented with a specific scenario - including evidence and other documents- and carry out a series of steps in the investigatory process. Who Should Attend: District Office Administrators, Site Administrators and Human Resources Staff
