Fans of trance, house, and dance music in general generally know the name of Tiësto. For nearly twenty years, the DJ has been pioneering new sounds, performance techniques, and pleasing fans on concert dates all around the world. Tiësto's latest album, Club Life, Vol. 1: Las Vegas, features a number of mixes that is invigorating his career and bringing fans back by staying on the cutting edge. To drive the point home, Tiësto is currently performing plenty of international tour dates in 2011, with concert dates already beginning to sell out.
The DJ known as Tiësto was born Tijs Michiel Verwest in the town of Breda, in the Netherlands province of North Brabant. In 1994, Tiësto began recording tracks leading up to the 1997 release of the first installment in the Magik series, Magik One: First Flight. In 1998, he began a series of successful collaborations with Benno de Goeji as Kamaya Painters, and later Ferry Corsten under the moniker Gouryella. He released the first of his hugely successful regional inspired mixes, In Search of Sunrise, in late 1999 to a somewhat sleepy reception. Also that year, Tiësto played a twelve hour tour date in Amsterdam, that would mark the beginnings of the DJ's infamous solo concert dates.
Tiësto's career experienced a boon in 2001 with his tour date at the first Innercity show in Amsterdam coinciding with his first solo album, In My Memory. Tiësto gained further attention with his hours long live sets on tour dates, culminating in the first ever solo DJ stadium concert in 2003. He followed up the success with Just Be in 2004, which featured the first non-vocal song to top the Dutch charts in twenty-three years. Another first came when Tiësto was invited to be the first DJ ever to play live at the Olympics, as he performed an hour and a half set at the opening ceremonies in Athens. He continued his groundbreaking streak in 2007 by playing the second largest concert date in history on Ipanema Beach, Brazil, playing to a quarter of a million people.
The 2009 album, Kaleidoscope, became Tiësto's most experimental album as he moved away from trance and played with different electronic genres on the record. His latest release, Club Life, Vol. 1: Las Vegas, returns to Tiësto's club and compilation roots, with contributions from Lune, Alex Sayz, Kaskade, and Amy Meredith. Tiësto currently has a full schedule of tour dates in 2011, which is already underway and scheduled until December. Tiësto will play a number of concert dates in Eastern Europe before returning to Las Vegas for an Independence Day tour date on July 2. After a few more European shows, the DJ is headed back once again to Las Vegas for Labor Day weekend before taking a break until late October, when Tiësto has a tour date on Halloween in Las Vegas. The last scheduled concert date for the DJ will be on December 3 in -- you guessed it -- Las Vegas! Citizens of Canada and Europe will get a sizable dosage of Tiësto's tour dates in 2011, while fans in the US will have to head to Las Vegas to experience an unforgettable concert date.
