Bio

Commander of the Order of the British Empire Rod Stewart has been known for many things over the years: His early work with bands like The Jeff Beck Group and the Faces, his hugely successful and long solo career, and the influence he's had on modern music. What he's known for most of all is his voice; a voice that's spanned generations and brought joy to millions of people world wide on tour dates and on records. It is a voice that has sold over 100 million records, sold out tour dates around the world, and earned Stewart a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Rod Stewart is currently playing a whirlwind 2011 tour with Stevie Nicks, titled the Heart & Soul Tour. With two legends on one stage, fans of both artists can't afford to miss this event.

Rod Stewart's first big break came when Jeff Beck (formerly of the Yardbirds) asked him to join the Jeff Beck Group as a vocalist. The band released one album in 1968 before Stewart left the band, citing conflict among the ranks. Just as Rod Stewart signed a solo contract with Mercury Records, his good friend Ron Wood (from the Jeff Beck Group) replaced Steve Marriott in The Small Faces. Stewart was invited to join the band as a vocalist shortly before the release of his debut solo album, An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down. Rod Stewart's solo career really began to take off when a B-side track -- titled "Maggie May" -- on his solo album, Every Picture Tells a Story, began playing on the radio. The Faces scored a hit with their single "Stay With Me" off of their third album, A Nod Is as Good as a Wink…To a Blind Horse. Tensions began between Rod Stewart and the Faces, as Stewart's solo career was surpassing his career with the Faces. The band would release their final album, Ooh La La, in 1973.

With the release of 1978's Blondes Have More Fun…or do they? -- and its single, "Da ya Think I'm Sexy?" -- Rod took his Mod style to the next level with more of a glam look, emphasized by the aforementioned single. It wasn't until 1988's Out of Order, that Stewart began again producing huge hits. 1991's Vagabond Heart pushed Stewart's comeback into the 90's, but by then he had mostly giving up on new, original material.

Since 2002, Stewart has been producing The Great American Songbook albums, in which he croons to hit songs from the 30's and 40's. They have been the second comeback of Rod Stewart's career, and the albums have seen the success of his 70's albums. Now "Rod the Mod" is on an international tour in 2011 with Stevie Nicks on the Heart & Soul Tour. Tour dates will feature classic hits from both artists, including a few duets. The duo is currently playing tour dates on the East Coast, switching to their West Coast leg on April 15. Stewart and Nicks will also bring their 2011 tour to The UK on April 29 with a stop-off in Poland on June 11. The Heart & Soul Tour's last tour date will be in London on June 26, so check out concert details before this rare treat disappears.
