Due to their contributions in fusing alternative rock with funk since the 1980s, there are not many music fans that do not know the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band's numerous appearances on MTV and frenzied tour dates over the years having given rock an energy that it hadn't seen in a predominantly pop music scene. With the recent replacement of guitarist John Frusciante with his friend Josh Kinghoffer, fans are eagerly waiting to hear the Red Hot Chili Peppers' new lineup on their upcoming album, I'm with You. The band is excited about the new lineup too, as they've scheduled months worth of 2011 tour dates in South America, Europe, and Asia.
Initially formed for a singular performance, the Red Hot Chili Peppers was formed by high school friends Anthony Kiedis, Hillel Slovak, Flea, and Jack Irons. Slovak and Irons often rotated in and out of the group in its early years, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers releasing the funk-inspired, George Clinton-produced Freaky Styley in 1985. Following tour dates in promotion of The Uplift Mofo Party Plan in 1987, Slovak died of a heroin overdose and Irons left the band distraught. Slovak was replaced by John Frusciante and, despite the success of the 1989 album Mother's Milk still struggled to find a funk-influenced mainstream sound. Producer Rick Rubin would help them find this elusive style on their hit 1991album, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which rose to the top of the charts and won a grammy for "Give It Away." The album launched the Red Hot Chili Peppers into superstardom, which eventually gave way to numerous international tour dates and led to Frusciante temporarily leaving the band.
Frusciante would return to the fold upon the release of Californication in 1999. The album won yet another Grammy for "Scar Tissue" and cemented the Red Hot Chili Peppers' labels as rock stars. The band toured for nearly two years after the album's release, including an infamously disastrous tour date at Woodstock 1999. The Red Hot Chili Peppers continued to release the hit albums By the Way and Stadium Arcadium before going on hiatus in 2008. Frusciante didn't make it out the other side of the hiatus and left to focus on his solo career.
Despite the loss of the beloved member, fans are still excited about the release of I'm with You on August 30. Fans in Europe and South America are excited about upcoming tour dates in 2011 on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' I'm With You Tour. Beginning on August 9, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will play a few concert dates in Hong Kong and Japan before heading to South America on September 11. South American tour dates will end on September 24, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will travel to Europe on October 7. After extensive concert dates in Europe, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will conclude their 2011 tour dates on December 17 in Madrid. With their latest album bound to be a hit, don't miss this opportunity to visit the Red Hot Chili Peppers tour dates in 2011.
