Dubbed one of the hottest new bands of 2010 by Rolling Stone, Neon Indian is a key figure in the burgeoning chillwave genre of electronic/New Wave music. The "band" is led by Mexico City native Alan Palomo and has received excellent reviews since his debut album, Psychic Chasm. Neon Indian's tour dates have become a favorite at indie music festivals like Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and Sasquatch! Fans are looking forward to Neon Indian's 2011 tour dates and the release of Heart: Attack sometime this September.
Alan Palomo grew up inspired by his father, who was a Mexican pop star in the 70s and 80s. He previously released music under the names VEGA and Ghosthustler; he began going by Neon Indian after missing an acid date with his ex-girlfriend and writing the song "Should Have Taken Acid With You" for her. Neon Indian released his debut album, Psychic Chasms, in 2009 to rave reviews by Spin, Pitchfork Media, and Groove Mine, just to name a few. Earlier in 2011, Neon Indian was featured on a collaborative EP with Flaming Lips, titled Flaming Lips 2011: The Flaming Lips with Neon Indian, which was well received by fans of both artists.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Heart: Attack this September and are hoping to catch one of Neon Indian's three remaining tour dates in 2011. Next up for Neon Indian is a tour date at the Camp Bisco festival on July 9, followed by a show in Bezirk-Alsegrund, Austria on August 5. Neon Indian's last tour date in 2011 is at the OFF Festival in Katowice, Poland on August 6. While these are the only scheduled tour dates in 2011, Palomo could be adding new dates closer to the release of the new album.
