As a cultural icon and one of the most important artists of the entertainment era, Madonna has traversed boundaries, set records, and has become the top-selling female recording artist of all time. Her career spans over three decades of continuous recording, performing, acting, and evolution. As a savvy businesswoman, Madonna started her own record label and has lucrative contracts with products ranging from shoes to cosmetics. She is the Queen of Reinvention, of Pop Music, and of American Culture. She continues to create new music, inspire us, and perform to sold-out crowds worldwide. Madonna tour dates are scheduled periodically throughout 2011.
The Michigan native turned down a dance scholarship at the University of Michigan to move to New York and become a performer. After a slow start with the band Breakfast Club, Madonna decided to make headway as a solo performer. She inked a deal with Warner Bros. Records and released her debut single "Everybody" in 1982. The single marked the beginning of dozens of top-ten dance hits and singles. She released her breakthrough album Like a Virgin in 1984 and took the world by storm with her sexual and provocative lyrics. Madonna ruled the airwaves and MTV, which she helped pioneer while the medium was in its nascent. The album was certified diamond by the RIAA for sales in excess of ten million copies and Madonna forged ahead.
Madonna tour dates were scheduled along the international Virgin Tour which featured the Beastie Boys as the opening act. Madonna recalls that the tour was "Crazy, because [she] went from playing CBGB and the Mudd club to playing sporting arenas." Instant fame made Madonna a household name and the fodder of tabloids and media attention, which she has never been able to escape. Madonna closed out the '80s with True Blue and Like a Prayer. Both albums were multi-platinum triumphs and Madonna signed on to star in the movie Dick Tracy with Warren Beatty. Madonna's concert schedule included the high-profile Blonde Ambition Tour which was hailed by Rolling Stone Magazine as the "greatest concert of the 1990s".
Madonna's career continued to be successful, albeit controversial, throughout the '90s. She released the provocative Sex book and the racy albums Erotica and Bedtime Stories. Madonna continued to act, she starred in A League of Their Own with best friend Rosie O'Donnell and she earned a Best Actress Golden Globe for her portrayal of Eva Peron in the film Evita. Madonna also started her own record label, Maverick Records, and signed such acts as the Prodigy and Alanis Morriessette. She closed out the decade with her electronica-infused record Ray of Light and embarked on the Drowned World Tour.
The Queen of Reinvention managed to keep her image fresh throughout the 2000s as well. In 2005, she released the dance-heavy album Confessions on a Dance Floor which won her a Grammy for Best Dance Album. Madonna's concert schedule included the Confessions Tour which grossed nearly $200 million in ticket sales becoming the highest grossing tour by a female artist in history. Proving that she was equally business savvy, Madonna signed an unprecedented deal with Live Nation for $120 million that included records and tour promotions. In 2008, Madonna was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and was named as the highest selling female artist in history by Guinness Book of World Records. She released her latest studio album Hard Candy in 2008 which featured hip-hop collabos with Timbaland, Pharrell, and Justin Timberlake. Madonna's concert schedule included the lengthy Sticky and Sweet Tour which ran from 2008-2009. Madonna set the record books on fire with this outing, it became the highest grossing tour by a solo artist when it sold over $400 million in tickets and is ranked as the fourth highest grossing tour of all time!
Madonna has broken records, boundaries, and the rules of convention many times over. She is a cultural icon and continues to call the shots in music industry. Madonna tour dates are scheduled periodically throughout 2011. Don't miss out on the Material Girl when she arrives in your area. She was just here. (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). Came on stage 2.5 hours late. Insulting to her fans. Good show but rudeness unforgiving by many. Never again.

Excellent site, keep up the good work my colleagues would love this. I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. http://www.allminiclip.com

I would want to see her didn't get to in thee 80's.depending on the venue. and of course the price, last I heard se wanted to play small venue and tickets up for auction. I don't needto see any artist that bad. If I had to 2000 dollars a table to see maddonna, instead of an open bar, the table would have to be covered with rails of cocaine all over it/.
