Jenny Dalton taught herself how to play the piano at a young age after she fell in love with the instrument at a neighbor's house. She began writing songs on a Casio synthesizer when she was 7 years old and continued onto the ivories when her parents acquired a parlor piano at age 9.
Always an appreciator of sub-culture pop, her influences come from the black chords and sonic layers of favorite artists like The Smiths, The Cure, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Peter Murphy, Kristen Hersh and more.
She self-produced and engineered her first, unreleased record project entitled Uncharted. Dalton then took her songs to small stages in her hometown, Minneapolis, MN. Fueled by creative motivation, she founded independent record label, Glossy Shoebox Productions and began self-producing on her critically acclaimed debut release, Fleur de Lily (2006) - a concept album inspired by her relationship with a soldier who was deployed to the war in Iraq.
In collaboration with producers and DJs from Germany, England, Greece and the US, Jenny produced Carbon Lily Remixes (2007) - a collection of electro/techno/trance remixes of songs from Fleur de Lily.
Her current works (2008), a concept album entitled Rusalka's Umbrella and book entitled Daughters of the Dead Sea, are based on the water element and are inspired by films, books and events discussed in her book.
She branched into multimedia projects and productions with the philosophy that music, art, literature, and performance provide unique experiences that remove people from common perceptions. In addition to her new book and CD release, her multimedia projects include a podcast and a music theater performance in collaboration with Lamb Lays with Lion Theater Company.
