EK, E K, E Kay, Evil Kat, QB of the WFU, Satan in High Heels, or sometimes just “Mistress” – These are just some of the more common nicknames for a fiery muse sporting the fabled color scheme, "red hair and black leather." Even more importantly, this woman of many monikers is the driving force behind M. R. Sellars and his literary works, not to mention the fact that she is also his wife of more than 20 years.
The semi-fictional “Evil Kat” portion of her persona has been nurtured over two plus decades, and was spawned from many inside jokes among friends and various other situations which shall go unmentioned due to gag orders which are still in force.
Or, is that just gags which are still in place? (Put there by E K, of course…)
Oh well, whichever it is, because of this rich and colorful history – sometimes mythical, sometimes spot on reality – she has now taken on a starring role in the majority of the satirical stories penned by Sellars on his blog, Brainpan Leakage. Of course, being the pervasive evil that she is, when not taking center stage in a story she almost always finds a way to sneak in a cameo.
In the real world, E K is a strong-willed, fiercely loyal, brilliant, incredibly organized, talented, and absolutely amazing individual without whom Sellars would be completely and utterly lost. She is not only his wife and his muse, she is his unequivocal best friend…
Come to think of it, much like a girl and her dog are best friends. After all, she makes sure he is fed, watered, and that he doesn’t get off his chain and run amok through the neighborhood. She even sees to it that he has his shots, rubs his nose in things, and locks him in his crate when he misbehaves. Of course, what more could an author want in an owner?
And on top of that, she’s really hot.
And, kind of evil.
Well, extremely evil, actually…
Suffice it to say, Evil Kat is real. Her evil persona, however, has benefited from a healthy dose of literary steroids. It is up to the reader to decide which parts of the E K mythos are fiction and which aren’t... Which are pure and which are embellished for the sheer fun of it.
Just bear in mind, good fiction always has a kernel of truth at its core…
