The native Tuscan, originally pursued a career in law before transitioning into music in the early '90s. His early success came when he toured with Italian rock band, Zucchero, on their 1993 European tour. Bocelli achieved breakthrough worldwide success with his albums, Aria and Sogno, released in 1998 and 1999 respectively. Bocelli received worldwide recognition for these albums, and in 1999 he earned a nomination for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards, marking the first time a classic artist had been honored in that category.
