Commonly considered the greatest American rock band of all time, Aerosmith has been producing anthemic singles and playing insanely energetic tour dates since 1970. If not the greatest American rock band, Aerosmith is undoubtedly the best-selling, with over 150 million albums sold worldwide and four Grammy Awards won. Aerosmith is still going strong after 41 years, with a new album due to release this year and numerous Japanese and South American tour dates in 2011.
While Aerosmith experienced fair success with the self-titled debut album and Get Your Wings, it was Toys in the Attic in 1975 that launched the band into international stardom. It featured the hit singles "Sweet Emotion" and "Walk This Way" and was followed by tour dates that would become a staple for music lovers. Aerosmith's next album, Rocks, experienced similar success, but Joe Perry and Brad Whitford soon quit the band for five years before returning. Beginning in 1987, Aerosmith made a comeback with albums like Permanent Vacation and Pump.
Aerosmith has maintained their status as rock legends well into 2011, supported by multi-platinum albums and sold-out tour dates. Fans are ecstatic over the band's upcoming, unnamed album after years waiting patiently. Fans in Japan and South America will only have to wait a little longer for tour dates in 2011, as Aerosmith begins its concert schedule on October 22. After traveling through Latin America, Aerosmith will head to Japan on November 22 before ending their 2011 tour dates on December 10.
