      EVENT DETAILS
2019 Massachusetts Association of Planning Directors Conference

Join us in North Adams at MASS MoCA for the 2019 Massachusetts Association of Planning Directors Annual Conference! HItch your wagons planning friends and colleagues, it's time to head west again for the Massachusetts Association of Planning Directors Annual Conference! In addition to a keynote address from North Adams Mayor Mayor Thomas W. Bernard, conference sessions will focus on micromobility, planning for the new economy,  economic development strategies and planning for the arts, tools and techniques for documenting and maintaining local affordable housing units--and don't forget our favorite Massacshuetts land use case law update to close out the conference.  Thursday evening will feature a reception at Bright Ideas--a local brewery adjacent to the museum. Some other exciting components in the works for the conference include: a Wednesday, May 29th planners' roadtrip out to North Adams via the Mohawk Trail, a "planners therapy" session on Wednesday evening in North Adams, a bicycle tour of North Adams to showcase the planning and economic development efforts underway, and very important plenary session regarding the state of equity of diversity in our profession and in our communities. We are still without an MAPD website, but you can easily access the abstracts of the conference  via this open dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hkkbzkba8bhsze8/conference%20abstract.pdf?dl=0 The final schedule is still being put together, once the lineup is set, we will update the dropbox. Please see below for FAQs.  We hope to see everyone! MAPD is always a great opportunity to catch up with old planner friends, meet new ones, and learn something new to bring back to the office...we hope to see you all in the smallest City in the Commonwealth!  Sincerely, MAPD Board of Directors FAQs Where can I contact the organizer with any questions? Please contact Cornelius Hoss AICP, MAPD Vice-President, with any questions: choss@cityofpittsfield.org What about hotel information? Is there a conference room rate? Yes, at the Holiday Inn Berkshire right in downtown North Adams! MAPD has arranged 15 rooms on Wednesday 5/29 at $105.00, 40 rooms on Thursday, 5/30 at $135.00, and 10 rooms (for those staying the weekend) on Friday, 5/31 at $190.00. The beauty of using Eventbrite is that the confirmation email IS your invoice! Please check your email after you register for the invoice (which will come as an attachment). We will have receipts at the door upon request. Is my registration/ticket transferrable? Yes, but changes to your tickets will only be made if they are received by Friday, May 24, 2019 at 6pm. I'm a speaker attending both days, how should I register? If you are a speaker and attending the conference, please register according to your membership category (member vs. non-member). I'm a speaker, but can only attend my session. How should I register? There is a speaker-only category (last registration option).  Can I update my registration information? Yes, please email Cornelius Hoss AICP, MAPD Vice-President, with any questions: choss@cityofpittsfield.org Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Save a tree! We'll have all of your information at the registration table at the Conference, so you will not need to print your ticket. We use EventBrite to keep track of everything. Please think, before your print!
