      September 11th Memorial Climb

The Los Alamos County Fire Department Honor Guard team is going to Climb Pajarito Mountain!   The Honor Guard's Vision is to;   - Gather our great community, LAFD, LAPD and other public service personnel together in an outdoor, active and fun event to support a great cause! - Raise money to donate to the National Fallen Firefighter's Foundation and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.   - Most Importantly, our vision is to honor the fallen firefighters, and police officers that lost their lives on September 11th, 2001; NEVER FORGET 9/11!  We would like to invite ALL who are willing and able to make the climb; Fire & Police Personnel, and the Public.    We will start at the East side of the ski lodge and walk up the East road to the top of the Aspen lift. This is NOT a timed event.  It will be VERY CHALLENGING, but this also gives us an idea of what personnel went through that day. Please plan accordingly by wearing appropriate attire and bringing personal hydration. We will all start the climb at 0900 and it should take between one and two hours to reach the top. There are no additional times to start.  After the hike to the top, there will be shuttles using 4x4 trucks and ATV's to bring people back down to the lodge if needed.  We are not allowed to use the lifts to come back down.  After the hike to the top, there will be shuttles using 4x4 trucks and ATV's to bring people back down to the lodge if needed.  We are not allowed to use the lifts to come back down. Climbing to the top of the ski hill will be around 1100 feet and 2 miles long. For fire personnel you are encouraged to wear your bunker coat and pants.  You can wear walking/running shoes with your gear if preferred. If you can find a spare SCBA pack, please feel free to wear it.  You may also come in PT/hiking gear and apparel.  WE THANK OUR SPONSORS; Los Alamos County Fire Department, IAFF Local #3279, Los Alamos Smith's, Bathtub Row Brewery and the Los Alamos National Labratory (Community Giving Campaigns)
