      University of Tennessee Knoxville - Additive Manufacturing Simulation Workshop

      Welcome to AlphaSTAR's Additive Manufacturing Simulation Workshop, in conjunction with the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Attendees will discuss the advantages of using simulation tools in the AM process. The workshop will provide the opportunity to learn about GENOA 3DP and the role it can play in the AM build process. This workshop will focus on the use of GENOA 3DP to accurately predict the deformation (net shape), residual stress, damage initiation, and damage propagation associated with an AM build. Attendees will also discover the importance of material characterization and advanced structural analysis in determining and addressing manufacturing defects and anomalies such as: voids, delamination, bald spots, and other irregularities during the print of plastic and metal parts. ***Workshop includes Lecture & Hands On Time using GENOA3DP*** ***This workshop is limited to 6 UTK students - if you register after the 6 spots a full, you will be placed on a waitlist and added as a seat becomes available*** GENOA 3DP is an additive manufacturing design tool and software suite that simulates the 3D printing process to accurately predict the deflection, residual stress, damage initation, and crack growth formation associated with as-built AM parts. Advanced multi-scale progressive failure analysis methods are used to replicate the entire 3D printing process from the level of Material Characterization to Advanced Structural Analysis in order to determine voids, delamination, manufacturing anamolies, and other irregularities and inefficienceies from micro to macro scales. With GENOA 3DP, users are able to optimize the build in order to reduce weight, reduce scrap rate, improve performance and meet specification.
