Jazz for Justice Presents 'Racial Justice and the Arts in Post-Apartheid South Africa' - A Film Screening and Discussion

Jazz for Justice presents a screening of "The Creators: South Africa Through the Eyes of Its Artists," an award-winning new documentary set in Cape Town. Following the screening, filmmaker Laura Gamse and visiting anthropologist Catherine Besteman will discuss the film and its implications, from the socio-political the role of artists in the new South Africa, to lessons about racial injustice for the American public. A Q&A will follow. The event is generously supported by the Ready for the World Initiative, the departments of Anthropology and Religious Studies, the School of Journalism and Electronic Media, and co-sponsored by the Africana Studies Program, Amnesty International, and the UT Film Committee.
