      Imagining Peace: A PeaceQuest Gathering

Imagining Peace will provide a counter-narrative to worrisome public discourse emphasizing fear, anti-immigration sentiments, and Islamophobia. It will help participants imagine how they can combat fear and build peace through activities that stimulate active citizenship, empathy, and democratic participation. It will be a showcase and a crucial building block for PeaceQuest’s innovative educational work, which began here in Kingston in late 2012. Over the past four years, we have engaged 10,000+ ordinary citizens of all ages in the region and at least 10,000+ in other communities in reflecting on the nature of peace and war and asking themselves how they can be peacemakers in their homes, in their communities and in the world. OPTIONAL ADD-ON: SUNDAY CONCERT AT THE ISABEL Sunday, November 11th, we will assemble at the stunning Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts for a very special Remembrance Day celebration – organized jointly by PeaceQuest and The Isabel. The past two years our Remembering for Peace concerts have filled the 500-seat venue to capacity. There won’t be much speechifying; we will use music, art and performance to remember and renew our commitment to peacebuilding. To purchase tickets for the Sunday concert only, please visit ACCOMMODATIONS: You may wish to book rooms at a special rate with our accommodations partner Confederation Place Hotel 237 Ontario Street Kingston, ON K7L 2Z4 Use code “Imagining Peace” $119 per night, single or double occupancy Includes continental breakfast Parking is additional $15 per day
