      Supporting Pollinators in Your Backyard

Beat the winter blues with the Cheshire County Conservation District (CCCD) as they present planting workshops aimed at helping you prepare your garden or landscaping plans for the spring!   Join the CCCD, in partnership with Moosewood Ecological LLC and the NH Beekeepers Association, on Friday, February 22nd for their first planting workshop of the year: Supporting Pollinators in Your Backyard. This FREE workshop will take place from 4:30-6:00pm at the Hannah Grimes Center at 25 Roxbury Street in Keene.   Jeff Littleton of Moosewood Ecological LLC will share tips for how you can improve your backyard landscape with native plants to contribute to local pollinator and wildlife conservation. Jeff says of this workshop: “It is our collective efforts that help make a difference as land stewards on any size property. In this workshop we will investigate the basics of site planning and ecological landscape design as a means to restore or enhance your property using native plants to attract a pollinators and other wildlife.”   Additionally, John Therriault of the NH Beekeepers Association will present an overview of backyard beekeeping efforts in NH. In this portion of the workshop, attendees will learn about local regulations, suggested study, local resources, types of hives, equipment required to get started, and how to plan your calendar of activity through the bee season in the Monadnock region.   Registration for this workshop is required.   This workshop is part of the CCCD’s Annual Conservation Plant Sale and much of the information contained will inform plant purchasing to support wildlife. If you are interested in purchasing plants from the District, view the 2019 Plant Sale Catalog and order forms at: www.cheshireconservation.org/plant-and-seed-sales   For questions regarding this event or assistance with registration, please contact Lola Bobrowski, Outreach Coordinator with the Cheshire County Conservation District, by email at: lola@cheshireconservation.org or call 603-756-2988 x115.
