The Dynamic history of forests in southwest New Hampshire...

The Dynamic history of forests in southwest New Hampshire, the Wildlife that use them, and What Landowners Can Do to Help Restore Important Wildlife Habitat. Tuesday, April 23rd, 6:30-9:00 pm Historical Society of Cheshire County, 246 Main Street, Keene, NH.            The forested landscape of New Hampshire has changed through time, influenced by both natural and human-caused events. But today's forests often lack the habitat diversity to meet the needs of many wildlife species. Hear the fascinating history of our ever-changing forests, learn what you can do to create and restore important wildlife habitat, including young forest habitat, on your property and what programs are available to assist with planning and implementation.  Sponsored by New Hampshire Fish & Game, The Monadnock Conservancy, The Harris Center for Conservation Education, The Historical Society of Cheshire County, and UNH Cooperative Extension.  Featuring talks by UNH Extension Forester Steve Roberge: “New Hampshire’s Forests Through Time and the Disturbances that Shape Them”; and UNH Extension Professor and Wildlife Specialist Matt Tarr: “Wildlife of Young Forests and Their Habitat Needs”, followed by a Question and Answer session with the speakers and representatives from NH Fish & Game, The Monadnock Conservancy & the Harris Center.
