Documentary: "Cartoneros"- followed by discussion with Director

Cartoneros, Erensto Livon-Grosman’s first documentary, portrays the process of informal recycling in his native Buenos Aires. The documentary explores the connections between the recurrent social and political crisis that have affected Argentina during the last fifty years. The film presents some of the challenges of documenting an emerging reality, where multiple strategies of several social agents are confronted with the consequences of economic disintegration, and the impact of globalization. Ernesto Livon-Grosman, who was born in Argentina, lives in the United States where he teaches film and literature at Boston College. He is now working on a series of short documentaries about South American visual poetry.
