      Downtown Easter Egg Roll

Break out your sneakers and head downtown for the first ever Classic Hinesville Downtown Easter Egg Roll. The Hinesville Downtown Development Authority and a giant white bunny will kick off the event on Saturday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m. Family-friendly activities will include an Easter egg roll, kite flying, a bunny spot, readings by children’s author Stephanie Sisler, sports, crafts, and a light-Easter market on the breezy, sun-splashed lawns of Bryant Commons.

Besides rolling eggs with spoons, children will get a chance to have a picture with the Easter Bunny provided by Carmen Garza. Want to feed your appetite? The Liberty County Armed Services YMCA will be hosting a breakfast with the Easter Bunny beginning at 11 a.m. in the main house and patio. Tickets are $10 and on sale now at the YMCA located at 201 Mary Lou Dr. Only 50 tickets will be sold.
Children’s author Stephanie Sisler will do two readings of her novel “One Bright Monster” at the Amphitheater at 11 a.m. and noon. Sisler resides in Cocoa Beach but is native to Liberty County, being creative and getting readers involved in her story is a common theme in her books. Families can also enjoy a tour of the ITPA museum located on the property in the main house. Tours will start at 10:30 am and will continue through the event.
The event will take place on the sprawling 75-acre lawns located inside Bryant Commons at 438 W Oglethorpe highway with on-site parking on a first come, first serve basis. Event opens at 10:30 a.m. and will run until 1:30 p.m. Egg Rolling will start at 10:45 a.m. on the main hill in front of the newly built amphitheater, and take place every 15 minutes. The egg roll is open to ages 2 through 10, with ages four and younger racing together and ages five through 10. Downtown comic book and hobby store, Jungle Jakes, will sell kites for those who want to fly high on Saturday morning, Hinesville Police Officers and volunteers will be on site to assist. Families are welcome to bring their own kites for the event.
