      Commune with nature while honing your photography skills. This digital photography weekend is designed for amateur photographers who want to increase their skills and try out new approaches. Bring a tripod along with your DSLR to learn various tripod techniques used to achieve a variety of results (plus bring a cable release and neutral density and/or polarizing filters). Program Leader Sharron Lee Crocker will lead a talk about composition, mindfulness and play.  Several walks to scenic locations will give you an opportunity to practice your new skills.  If you want to share the photos you’ve taken, please bring a laptop or tablet to upload your photos. There are only 16 spaces for photographers. But there is plenty of space for partners and friends who want to come for a relaxing getaway weekend of hiking, paddling, swimming, sunbathing or just doing nothing at all. This event is led by the chapter's Harriman Program Committee Volunteer Leaders. Paddling and yoga equipment at the camp are provided free of charge courtesy of the NY-NoJ Chapter. Personal canoes & kayaks are allowed on Breakneck Pond; no permit is required. Registration Registration is mandatory. Photography programs fill quickly, so register early! Photography Program is only available to 16 overnight guests. In addition to your cabin or camp ticket, please also select the Photography Program ticket. Stotal space is limited to 16 cabin and 8 tenting guests. Register by June 6 midnight for Reduced Early Bird Prices. Registered guests will receive an Information Sheet at least one week prior to the event.  Cost Early Bird Prices Cabin: $165 Members / $220 Non-members Camp: $115 Members / $155 Non-Members After June 6 midnight ... Cabin: $185 Members / $240 Non-members Camp: $135 Members / $175 Non-members Rate includes 2 nights accommodation (Fri & Sat), 2 dinners (Fri & Sat), 2 breakfasts (Sat & Sun), and program leadership provided by volunteer leaders. Trail lunches may be purchased separately before you check out or at the camp. Rate excludes EventBrite and credit card processing fees for non-members. Become an AMC Member and receive a discounted rate. Accommodations  Choose to stay in either a newly renomvated cabin or a 3-sided shelter. Storm King Cabin has 4 bedrooms, each with 4 bunks There is a large center common room and 2 small refrigerators. Thick mattresses, blankets and pillows are provided. Each Beaver Brook Shelter can accommodate 4 backpacking tents, which can be borrowed from the camp. Secure bearbox is available for food storage. Bath houses are nearby and have hot showers and flush toilets.  Check in at the camp office when you arrive. Check-in time is Friday at 3 pm. Plan to arrive by 6 pm for dinner. Check-out time is Sunday at 11 am, although you are welcome to enjoy the camp until 3 pm.  Transportation The camp is easily accessible by public transportation. Take either the NJ Transit/Metro North train from New York Penn Station to Tuxdeo, or the Shortline bus from the 42nd Street Port Authority to Tuxedo. Drive to Harriman State Park which is off the Palisades Parkway. The gate to the camp is on Lake Welch Parkway (41.217869, -74.106021). Drive up to the camp office to check-in and unload your gear. Then park in the big field.  We encourage carpooling but do not arrange it. Try starting a ride share on What to Bring Bring sheets and pillow case or sleeping bag, tent, towels, yoga/hiking/swimming/paddling gear, sunscreen, bug spray, headlamp, hat, water bottle, and personal toiletries. Sheets and towels may be rented from the camp. Remember your camera equipment and iPad or computer, plus cables! BYO Adult beverages and snacks to share. Reservations cancelled 14 days or less in advance are not refundable. If the AMC must cancel a program, registrants will be notified and all fees will be refunded.
