Copps Coliseum Hamilton opened in 1985, a $35 million construction project which was carried out in the hope that Hamilton might then attract its own NHL franchise - something which has yet to happen. However, the Copps Coliseum Hamilton has been home to the AHL's Hamilton Bulldogs since 1996, bringing over two million fans to the venue during their period of tenancy.

The Copps Coliseum schedule features a wide variety of happenings in addition to those Bulldog Games. Many of music's biggest acts have played the 19,000 capacity, climate-controlled auditorium; Greenday, Britney Spears, Meat Loaf, Queens of the Stone Age, Kings of Leon and Elton John are just a few of the stars whose names have appeared on The Copps Coliseum schedule in the past. Over the years, Copps Coliseum Hamilton has also played host to numerous large-scale events including the Canada Cup ice-hockey tournament in both 1987 and 1991, and the WWF's first ever 'Royal Rumble.'
