Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals teaches home child care professionals about healthy meal preparation and creating a healthy food environment for the kids in their care. This hands-on, discussion-based training covers topics such as choosing healthy foods that appeal to kids, creating positive mealtime attitudes, safe cooking with confidence and menu management on a budget. You will engage in cooking and preparing nutritious meals that meet the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines.
The training is free of cost to you. You will receive a manual highlighting the information covered in the course and a variety of recipes, essential kitchen equipment, and 8 hours of continuing education (2 hours social emotional development, 3 hours healthy and safe environment, 1.5 hours professionalism, 1 hour developmentally appropriate practices, 0.5 hour family relationships). Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals is a Colorado early childhood approved training.
This training is located at Mesa County Health Department Community Services Building and is for home child care providers only. There are no children allowed at the training. We will be engaging in lunch and snack preparation which we will enjoy during the training, while engaging in family-style meal service. Class size is limited to 25 participants.
