Community Energy Lecture: Heating our communities with Biomass Energy - New Technologies for an old idea

Heating Alaskan homes with biomass is not a new idea. Biomass (plant material and animal waste) is the one of the oldest sources of renewable energy, used since our ancestors learned the secret of fire, but can we heat our communities with it? Devany Plentovich of the Alaska Energy Authority will discuss recent biomass projects and technologies and Tok Forester, Jeff Hermanns, will illustrate the successful use of these technologies as he discusses turning wildfire suppression into a fuel that is heating the Tok school.

      Cost: Open tothe public
