      Postgraduate Entrepreneurial Skills Development Programme

      Postgraduate Entrepreneurial Skills Development Programme  All PGR students have an exciting opportunity to attend a fully-funded Entrepreneurial Skills Development Programme. Please note, the sessions content does contain elements which are tailored to EPSRC PGRs. Day 1: Introduction to Entrepreneurial Skills Development Date: Wednesday 3 April 2019 Location: Seymour Suite, Mercure Southgate Hotel, Southernhay East, Exeter, EX1 1QF Time: 8:15-20:00 (workshops start at 9am, optional dinner with key note speaker Peter Melville-Shreeve and further activities from 17:00/17.30-20:00)   Day 2: Entrepreneurial Skills Development Consolidation Date: Thursday 21 May 2019 Location: The Deck, Innovation Centre, University of Exeter, Rennes Drive, Exeter EX4 4RN Time: 10:30-15:30 Event information The Exeter PGR Entrepreneurial Skills Development Programme will support and enable you to explore and engage with your entrepreneurial potential and enhance your career as an innovative researcher. A fast-paced, day-long introduction will introduce you to key tools, techniques and topics such as: Conceptual Models to explore career opportunities Thinking like an entrepreneur Communication, listening and networking skills (inc. how to open a conversation) What IP has been generated and how should you protect it? Attending the second session will help you to consolidate what you have learnt with the other participants, maintain your momentum, plan for the future, and tap into the ongoing entrepreneurial support available from SETsquared. Attendance at both sessions is strongly encouraged to gain the most from the programme This programme aims to build your skills for and knowledge about which career pathways you may like to follow both within and outside of academia, as well as increase your awareness of the markets and areas in which your skills can be applied. Attending can also help to demonstrate the competencies required for becoming a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Physicist in future. Refreshments, lunch and dinner* will be provided. *Dinner will be provided at the first event on 3 April only.  Cornwall-based PGR student are eligible to have their travel costs reimbursed - for more information please contact: Kitty Adhamy-Nichol (k.nichol@exeter.ac.uk) Programme participants have the opportunity to access supporting materials before, during and after the programme on a bespoke Virtual Learning Environment. Please note, the University of Exeter and EPSRC are seeking to expand their opportunities for PGRs to engage with Industry and Entrepreneurial Activities, particularly those aligned with the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.
