TZ3: Towards Zero Suicides in Cornwall & Isles of Scilly

This is the third Towards Zero Suicides engagement event, following one in July 2016, and one in Januay 2017. These have been funded by the Duchy Charity. On this page is information on: Who might want to attend? Objectives of the event Event Agenda Who might want to attend?           To the top of the page and Registration Anyone who wants to play a part in reducing the suicide rate in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly is welcome to attend. There is no requirement to have attended previous events. We believe that every suicide is one too many. We particularly value the contributions of people with lived experience of mental distress and those affected by suicide bereavement. People who have experienced distress and despair, and those who have been touched by suicide, are a crucial part of the collaborative. We will reach out to local communities to help reduce distress and promote emotional well-being. It is therefore important that we include all parts of our community including those who feel marginalised or overlooked. However, some people may find the subject matter too difficult to deal with at this time. Support for delegates will be available during the conference from the Samaritans and you are welcome to bring a friend or carer. If you are currently receiving support, it may be helpful to ask your therapist or counsellor for advice about whether to attend. If you are not ready or able to attend the day, your voice is still valuable and we will seek other ways to listen to and include your views and share the work of the collaborative with you.   Objectives of the event            To the top of the page and Registration  To raise awareness of the impact of suicide on the population of Cornwall & Isles of Scilly, potential risk factors and preventive actions To engage a wider network of organisations and individuals who will commit to playing a part in preventing suicide by following the Model for Improvement evidence-based methodology. To increase public confidence in intervention to support individuals at risk, wherever they present The network to plan and deliver a portfolio of Zero Suicide projects, benefitting from expert input from diverse sources. SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely) objectives will be defined to enable to project to be evaluated.
