The K9 unit of the Las Cruces Police Department is a specialized unit that is trained to detect various substances crucial to law enforcement. The unit has several dogs trained to detect drugs and explosives. Come to the museum to watch the dogs and their handlers demonstrate how these substances are detected.
In addition to the demonstration, the Las Cruces Police Crime Scene Unit will be at Mesilla Valley Mall from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm with some of their vehicles and crime scene equipment available for the public to view and investigators will be available to answer questions about their duties.
After the demonstration, we invite everyone to come to the museum and try your hand at being a detective and solving a mystery of the Crime Lab Detective exhibition.
