      营造以有效学习为导向的课程环境 课程内容和预期成果: 本课程将结合4项IETC的学习原则,从课程内容和学习过程出发,致力于为学生营造一个以有效学习为导向的课程环境。课程主旨如下: 与学生建立有效并且相互尊重的学习关系; 在课程计划中融入语言学习中的“沟通教学法” 为学生提供不同形式的学习方式和学习任务; 为学生提供充分的、有效的、及时的学习反馈,同时授课老师对课程内容和形式进行持续的反思和改进。  学员将分析以现行的理论研究为基础的教学方法,学习如何鼓励学生参与课堂、营造有效的学习氛围。学员将学习如何运用和整合不同的教学方法和活动,逐步把理论转化成最佳实践,并将其应用于将来的教学计划。 在课程中,学员将能够学习到: 分析对学生的认知与有效教学策略之间的关系,并将这种关系运用到课堂以建立教学可信度,从而营造有效的学习环境和文化氛围; 以语言学习中的“沟通教学法”为基础,实施创新和灵活式的教学战略; 针对学习进度不一的学生,发展出一套合适的教学战略系统,让学生能以不同的方式学习,更好地满足学生需求; 发展出一套对教学方法的有效性进行反思和分析的体系,并结合收集来的反馈意见,对教学进行评估与修正,以达到提高学生学习水平的目的。 Building an Effective Learning Culture Content and Outcome: This course will focus on building an effective learning culture that engages students in the learning content and process, connecting to the 4 IETC learning principles. An effective learning culture can be created by: Building effective and respectful relationships with students Engaging lesson planning and communicative language approaches Providing varied learning opportunities and appropriate challenges Quantitative, qualitative and in-time feedback for and continuous reflection for teachers Participants will analyze current research-based approaches for creating engaged learners and developing an effective culture for learning in the classroom. There will be various instructional practices and activities by scaffolding research theories to best practice. Participants will integrate and apply appropriate approaches into their lesson plans and curriculum delivery in the future. During the course, participants will be able to: Analyze the relationship between knowledge of students and appropriate planning strategies, which lead to teacher’s credibility, an important factor in building an effective learning culture Practice flexible instructional strategies that are based on students using communicative learning strategies Plan and choose strategies that allow students to learn at different paces Develop methods for collecting formative assessment in order to analyze the results and modify instructional strategies About the Facilitators: Ivy Zhou graduated with master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and bachelor’s degree in Chinese Linguistics and Literature, as well as minor bachelor’s degree in English. She had 3 years’ teaching experiences in Chinese local school and college. She has worked in Nansha College Preparatory Academy, Guangzhou for almost 7 years. She was the first Chinese teacher at NCPA. She designed and developed NCPA Chinese curriculum based on the Chinese National curriculum and the American national common core curriculum. In her role as the department chair, Ivy Zhou enriched the curriculum with more cultural activities. After successfully completing the four IETC Foundational Courses, Ivy Zhou started the new role as the co-facilitator of IETC. Barbara Parker has worked in international schools in Southeast Asia, Pakistan, Africa, and the Mediterranean for almost 30 years. She was formerly the Director of the International School of Beihai. In her role as the ISS Regional Curriculum Director for the Asia-Pacific region, she designed and developed curriculum for several new international schools in China and the Asia-Pacific region, some of which were designed particularly for English language learners. In her role as Director of Learning Design, Barbara Parker designed and facilitates three of the four IETC Foundational Courses. During her semi-retirement, she is based part of the year in Shenzhen, serves as an instructional coach for NCIC-Immersion School in Shenzhen, designs and delivers IETC professional development courses, and conducts training and supports schools through the ACS WASC accreditation process.
