      Description

The Koreshans were a religious group who believed we lived inside the Earth, and sought an alternative lifestyle free of what they called competitiveness. The land the Koreshans settled is now Koreshan State Park, which includes eleven historic structures that date from 1882 to 1920. Visitors can camp, fish, picnic, boat, and hike in a 200-acre state park. Visitors can also take self-guided tours of the settlement or a ranger-guided tour.

Koreshan State Park offers nature trails, fishing, canoeing/kayaking and rentals, a boat ramp, a playground, camping, a picnic area with covered pavilion, a Sunday farmers market, community events, guided historic tours, musical events. The site is also a venue for weddings and special events.

Directions: I-75 Exit 123 Corkscrew Road, head west 2 miles, cross U.S. 41 and continue on Corkscrew Road approximately 1000 yards to entrance of park. If traveling U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail) Koreshan is located at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Corkscrew Road at Estero.
