Del Mar Fairgrounds

The Del Mar Fairgrounds is one of San Diego County’s premier sites for large-scale community events, touring shows and expos. The idea for a county fair started in the late 19th century, but property for the Del Mar Fairgrounds itself was not established until 1936. The Del Mar Fairgrounds was founded by the 22nd District Agricultural Association and is still currently owned and operated by the organization. When the Del Mar Fairgrounds underwent a struggle to stay afloat, the voters agreed to the expansion of a racetrack to acquire revenue. Today, the Del Mar Fairgrounds still works in conjunction with the Horsepark to bring San Diego County residents and tourists the best in live entertainment and special events.

Over the decades, the Del Mar Fairgrounds schedule has continued to include many of the annual highlights of the San Diego area calendar. Hallowe'en's 'Scream Zone', the 'Holiday of Lights', the Del Mar Races, and of course, the San Diego County Fair are just a few of the most popular events featured on the Del Mar Fairgrounds schedule each year.
