I can't wait til the Civil War Days at the park. This will be my first year there, and I live beside the park. Our house is the first house out of the park. So we can walk to it. I can't wait. See everyone there.

It is fitting that a candidate for working people is also working during the week. Maybe enough of us who are retired can help make a large crowd. If we had a large population, enough working men and women could come by for a few minutes during their lunch breaks. But, let's make it a big 10-4 for Columbus and for Edwards. Remember, if he should not be the nominee that any one of the democrat candidates this year will make a fine president. If all 8 republican candidates could serve, that would only mean 8 times the damage that one would do.

Description
Columbus-Belmont State Park is a 156-acre site that played a fascinating role in the War Between the States. This is the site of fortifications built by the Confederates and later occupied by Union forces. The 1861 Battle of Belmont, a raid fought to test the strength of this Confederate stronghold, marked the opening of the Union's Western Campaign. It was also Union General Ulysses S. Grant's first active engagement in the Civil War. Some of the artillery, which shelled the Union troops, and the six-ton anchor that held the great chain stretching across the river, are on display in the park.
