      Family Coding Day

      FAMILY CODING DAY We welcome ALL students from kindergarten through 8th grade to join us. Parents are welcome as observers. Teachers are welcome as observers and will receive a copy of the lesson plan.  This program is appropriate for ALL students. It is especially valuable for studendts with dyslexia and IEPs but EVERYONE is encouraged to attend. Design and code a robot or Mars Rover! Use Virtual Reality Headsets! Code your first video game! Agenda for the day: 1. John will welcome us and provide an overview of the planned activities for the day.  2. Kids will build and CODE a robot or Mars Rover using basic CODING "Scratch," "Python" or "JavaScript."  3. Kids will create slime and enhance it using a variety of multi-sensory strategies. Each students will take home his/her slime. 4. Kids will participate in a variety of fun activities using Virtual Reality Headsets Parents are encouraged to attend a Q&A session at the end of the workshop Snacks will be provided. Please register early because seating and materials are limited. Online tickets will be available through January 25th at 11:55 pm. If available, tickets will be sold on day of event. Limited to 50 students The overall goal is to develop valuable skills which apply to technology and creative thinking, areas in which dyslexic and IEP students excel. The activities will be valuable for ALL students. John's book, School Dropout to Harvard: My life with dyslexia will be available for sale and he will do a book signing after the program.
