Join us for a unique meet and greet at Pilgrim’s Way Community Bookstore, that brings the railroad to the beautiful city of Carmel, CA.

SP Railroad Engineer John and his wife Sheri Cockrell, co-creators of 45 Years of True Railroad Stories, (www.45yearsrr.com), and Cynthia Fernandes and her husband Paul Fridlund, owners of Pilgrim’s Way Community Bookstore, (www.pilgrimsway.com), are excited to bring the railroad to the beautiful city of Carmel, CA – an area that usually isn’t abuzz with railroad topics. The event will take place at Pilgrim’s Way Community Bookstore, Dolores St. between 5th & 6th, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA, on Sunday, September 1st, from 12:00 until 2:00 pm.

Veteran engineer, John Cockrell, started work for the Southern Pacific Railroad on August 22, 1955. He was one of the few employees hired in engine service that started by firing steam engines and retired as an engineer operating up to 6,000 horse power computer controlled General Electric diesel locomotives with just under 2,000,000 compensated miles. “45 Years of True Railroad Stories places you in my seat to experience what I did during my 45 year career as a fireman, switchman and an engineer working for the largest railroad company in the country. My hits, misses and everything in between. ”
