      ABOUT OUR GUEST SPEAKERS:
Jenny Morris - AKA The Giggling Gourmet - is one of SA's most-loved food personalities. She is a celebrity chef, author, magazine writer, radio & TV presenter with TV shows in a 143 countries, teacher, caterer and culinary tour guide who has had an ongoing love affair with food since she was a child, when she started making mouthwatering treats for school fundraisers. It's a love affair in the true sense of the word, one that employs all the senses.

Taste is the most obvious, as is aroma. For Jenny touch is also important. "Feeling your food is important," she says. "Caress it, stroke it, know it intimately." How you eat your food will reveal what kind of lover you are. "You don't want someone who eats a sosatie (kebab) with a knife and fork," says Jenny with the naughty spontaneous laugh that has earned her the moniker of Giggling Gourmet." And if I can get presidents and heads of state to eat with their hands, I can do it for anyone!"

Since those early days, Jenny went on to cater for functions at high school, and later cooked for friends and family. Jenny is the well-known creator of Giggling Gourmet a catering company of note, The CooksPlayground™ where Jenny teaches practical hands-on cooking courses at her cooking school, these include the now famous CooksParties™, TeamCooking™ and SingleCooks™ alternatives all of which have fun and laughter as a main ingredient. Jenny's formula for success is to "entertain informatively and inform entertainingly," something she does with flair. Not only has she conquered radio, but Jenny has made several television appearances both locally and internationally. www.jennymorris.co.za

Translated into 7 languages and a perennial on Penguin’s best seller list since 1998, the book tells the harrowing story of Alison Botha, who was raped, stabbed and disemboweled - and survived to rebuild her life as an inspirational speaker. Written, produced and directed by Uga, Alison became one of South Africa’s most hotly-anticipated and multi award winning films. Deploying a bold mixture of fairy tale idiom and unflinching frankness to tell its story of survival, resilience and triumph, Alison was dubbed “a story of monsters, miracles and hope”. http://www.alisonthemovie.com. The film had its international premiere at Dances with Films Festival in Los Angeles, where it not only got pick of the fest from Enclave LA, the hybrid film also made history by becoming the first South African film to be selected for this iconic film festival.

In 2017 Uga won best screenplay in the 2017 Writer's Guild of South Africa Muse Awards and best documentary of the African continent at the AMVCA 2017 Awards. Carlini, Towerkop Creations and Alison, were also nominated in all 5 documentary categories at the 2017 SAFTAS. This included best director and best overall film in the feature documentary section.

In 2018 Uga was crowned one of eight female filmmakers of the year in the World of Women’s Cinema at the WOW Middle East Film Festival. The film fair promotes and awards the talents of women producers, directors, writers, editors and cinematographers in the film industry internationally.
