      G-251 WEM Amateur Radio Resources, one full day, Johnson County, May 21, 2019

      G0251: WEM Amateur Radio Resources Course Description This 4-hour course will provide state and local elected officials, emergency managers, and other public officials with an understanding of how these volunteer communication groups can help in supplementing telecommunication and warning systems.  The instructor is providing an additional 4 hours of hands-on training in the afternoon for a total of 8 hours.  Selection Criteria: State and local elected officials, emergency managers, and other public officials; amateur radio operators. Course Objectives Explain the importance of amateur radio for emergency communications. Describe the amateur radio groups that can provide emergency communications. Explain the capabilities of amateur radio resources. Explain how to achieve a successful Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES) organization. Determine a strategy for coordinating with amateur radio resources in the community. Mission Areas Respond Prerequisites There are no Prerequisites for this course.
