      Brantly Gilbert and Thomas Rhett

Friday, September 21st, Brantly Gilbert makes a stop at the Budweiser Summer Stage at Tag’s in Big Flats, NY. Opening for Brantly will be Thomas Rhett.

Brantley Gilbert was born in the small town of Jefferson, Ga., just outside of Athens. He grew up hearing country music, but he also heard a lot of Athens rock bands like R.E.M. and the B-52's and the swaggered Southern rock of bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd -- at his best, Gilbert blends all of these various strains together in his music.

A near-fatal car accident when he was 19 years old spurred Gilbert to give music his all, and he started writing songs in earnest, playing mostly solo acoustic gigs before forming a band that could bring his vision of a hard-stomping country/rock/soul show to fruition.

He signed with Warner Chappell Publishing and began working toward completing an album. Modern Day Prodigal Son was originally slated for release in 2006 and finally appeared three years later in 2009 from Average Joe's, which also released the follow-up, Halfway to Heaven, in 2010.

A deluxe edition of Halfway to Heaven arrived in 2011 on Valory Music Co. The first single, "Country Music Be Country Wide," reached No. 1. He followed that success with "You Don't Know Her Like I Do." As a songwriter, his credits include Jason Aldean's "Dirt Road Anthem" and "My Kinda Party."

Georgia-born singer/songwriter Thomas Rhett, the son of award-winning country crooner Rhett Akins, didn't start seriously considering following in his father's footsteps until his senior year in high school. Raised on a steady diet of Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Led Zeppelin, and the Rolling Stones, Rhett inked a publishing deal with EMI just two years into his college career, and landed a song ("I Ain't Ready to Quit") on fellow country rocker Jason Aldean's 2010 release, My Kind of Party. Like Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, and Justin Moore, Rhett splits the difference between slick, contemporary country and rowdy good-time rock & roll, an equation he put to the test on his 2011 debut single "Something to Do with My Hands."
