Robbie Fulks: An Intimate evening with Robbie and special guest Dave Ramont

Robbie Fulks will be performing in the intimate confines of Kiss The Sky, located in Batavia, Illinois, on Sunday evening, October 1, 2017. Clayhead Records recording artist Dave Ramont will be opening up the evening at 7:00pm. Robbie is fresh off of Grammy nominations for Upland stories, his highly acclaimed and most recent album release on Bloodshot Records, and "Alabama at Night", the lead song from that album. Rolling Stone proclaims that "Each track brims with the knowledge that existence is rarely ever simply black and white, but instead a complex array of hues." In 1993, Robbie Fulks was a songwriter banging around the Chicago club scene with a twangy voice and dangerous sense of humor. He caught the attention of Bloodshot Records and they started making records with him, and as part of the first-generation Bloodshot roster, Robbie Fulks helped to define “Alternative Country.” In 2013, after two decades of playing music everywhere from the taverns of southern Illinois to the honky-tonks of northern Norway, from Austin City Limits’s soundstage to the historic Grand Ole Opry, he reunited with Bloodshot for the highly acclaimed Gone Away Backward and, most recently, Upland stories. On Sunday, October 1, Robbie and his band will perform songs from his extensive catalog amidst the friendly confines of Kiss The Sky, an independent record store located in the central regions of the Fox River Valley of Illinois. And, so that you know, Kiss The Sky is not your everyday average record store ... not in the least. Live music has most always been a feature representation. The store is equipped with an excellent sound system, permanent performance stage, and seating that emulates a house concert atmosphere. Dave Ramont will open up the evening promptly at 7pm. Dave is a friend of Robbie's and a native of the Fox River Valley. He records for Clayhead Records, with four solo releases to his credit, including his most recent, and critically acclaimed TAW. He's also a founding member of the trail blazing swillbilly band Dick Smith, with whom he records and performs as the mood commands. His pairing with Robbie, we feel, is a match made ... well, perhaps made in a bar or honky tonk in the hills of West Virginia, Kentucky or North Carolina. Or, it could have easily been the result of a brief encounter somwhere on the north "hilly" side of Chicago! Seating is limited ... consequently, we are limiting tickets as well. We have had as many as 200 plus in the store for a show, as recently as last September in fact. That will not be the case here. Ticket sales are being limited to 100 with seating for about 75 (maybe more if we can handle the logistics thereof). And, it is general admission, meaning that there are no reservations. An advance ticket gains you entry to the show, but it does not reserve you a seat. First come, first serve. Tickets are available here on Eventbrite, or they can be purchased at Kiss The Sky in person, thereby saving you a processing fee. The general admission ticket is $20. If you have questions, feel free to contact the organizer (Steve) via email (steve@fvmf.org) or call him at Kiss The Sky after 3pm on weekdays or anytime (10am until 8pm) on Saturdays.
