      Three-day Plein Air Workshop with Kari Ganoung Ruiz

      Kick-off the Plein Air Season! Join award-winning Plein Air artist Kari Ganoung Ruiz for a spring workshop hosted by the Inns of Aurora in the heart of the Finger Lakes. You'll spend three days painting with expert guidance surrounded by natural beauty.  Devoted beginners will build confidence in oil painting with Kari's gracious guidance while intermediate and advanced students will learn new techniques to refine their approach.   Kari is known for her unique way of capturing light in her plein air paintings. Her personalized instruction will assist students in choosing a scene and achieving a feeling of light in their own work. Recent awards include 2018 Quick Draw winner at Lighthouse Plein Air Festival in Tequesta Florida, Best Architectural Scene 2017 Mountain Maryland Plein Air Festival, 2017 Grand Prize winner of the Finger Lakes Plein Air Festival in Canandaigua NY. Artwork held in public and private collections across the U.S. Partition Fee is $600 per person. $300 refundable deposit is due on registration. $300 final payment due May 1, 2019. Includes: Instruction, dinner Tuesday, lunch Wednesday and Thursday, and a wine reception critique Wednesday. All other meals and lodging are additional. Space is limited to 12 painters.  A materials list and detailed schedule will be emailed to participants upon registration along with a  booking code to activate a discount on overnight accommodations at the Inns of Aurora during the workshop. Kari recommends you gather the items you'll need well before the workshop and that you get comfortable with your supplies ahead of time. Dress in layered clothing and comfortable shoes and be ready to head outside!  Sample Schedule (subject to change) Tuesday, May 28, 2019 12:30 introduction, short slideshow short painting demo walk about the village with sketchbooks for notan thumbnail drawing exercise  participants set up gear and we do painting exercises  6:30 dinner on your own nocturne painting opportunity  Wednesday, May 29, 2019 9am meet at shuttle and drive to farm location TBD demo paint with individual instruction box lunch paint with individual instruction 5pm head back to Aurora 6:30 meet for group dinner 8pm painting critique with wine! Thursday, May 30, 2019 10 am meet at location TBD driving separately (check out prior if staying overnight) demo paint with individual instruction box lunch paint with individual instruction 4pm end
