      The Steel Woods

Known for their guitar-driven melodies and signature smoky vocals, The Steel Woods continue to captivate crowds with their hyponotizing, energetic live shows, filling venues across the country with a genre-defying blend of outlaw country and Southern-infused rock. They are currently touring in support of their new album "Old News".

Out January 18th via Thirty Tigers, the band’s powerful sophomore release showcases their classic dark, atmospheric sound paired with thoughtful songwriting that touches on universal truths like perseverance, unity, hope, and resilience. The album features nine gripping new originals that were inspired by real conversations from the road — an opportunity that gave the band well-rounded insight and perspective from all walks of life.

In addition to their ode to Petty, the band honored four other recent lost legends on "Old News" — Merle Haggard, Wayne Mills, and Gregg Allman. The record also includes special renditions on classics like “The Catfish Song” by Townes Van Zandt and “Changes” by Black Sabbath, which follows their cherished Sabbath cover of “Hole in the Sky” from their 2017 debut album "Straw in the Wind".

The Steel Woods have won over critics at the Associated Press, American Songwriter, Wide Open Country, The Boot, Magnet Magazine, and Elmore Magazine, who said, "The band alternates between a gritty and tender lyrical perspective and a hard-hitting electric and acoustic sound… The Steel Woods have the right blend of vocals, musicianship, and songwriting.”
