"Into the Woods", music and lyrics by STEPHEN SONDHEIM
Book by JAMES LAPINE
Presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. www.MTIShows.com
Directed by Scott Walters
Stephen Sondheim's and James Lapine's achingly beautiful musical weaves together the characters of many different fairy tales -- Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood to name a few -- into a story that explores both the joys and the costs of pursuing dreams. The play contains some of Sondheim's most heartfelt songs, including "Children Will Listen" and "No One Is Alone," as well as a great deal of comedy. Despite the fairy tale setting, the play centers on adult themes of loss, the relationship of parents and children, and the mistakes we all make simply by living our lives. Yet at the end, "into the woods we go again" because life goes on and there are always new challenges and adventures.
