Del Ray Dozen Invitational Photography Show
Opening Reception: Friday 11/6, 7 - 10 pm
Exhibit Dates: 11/6 – 11/29/09

Alexandria, VA. (October 11, 2009) - Del Ray Artisans (DRA) is pleased to announce the return of the “Del Ray Dozen Invitational Photography Show”. This all-photography show builds on the success of the previous all-photography shows. This exhibit will showcase the work of sixteen photographers.

DRA, a non-profit arts organization, includes a large cadre of photographers. Curator Rob Rudick is excited about the group of returning and new artists assembled for this year’s show. “We have many new participants, and we added additional slots to include more people.”

The opening reception will be Friday, November 6th, 2009 from 7 - 10 pm at the DRA gallery which is located in the Nicholas A. Colasanto Center at 2704 Mount Vernon Avenue in Alexandria, VA. The reception will include a silent auction of photography pieces created by “the Dozen”. The opening reception is free and open to the public.

Participating photographers are Kathryn Brown, Amy Bruce, Jen Chappell, Candace Clifford, Kevin Dohmen, Judy Heffner, John Hiller, Roger Jackson, Greg Knott, David Kosar, James Locke, Marlin Lord, Rob Rudick, Charlie Sabin, Fierce Sonia, and Rita Yurow. They will be presenting a variety of works with subjects including landscapes, interiors and abstracts. Kathryn Brown and Judy Heffner will display Del Ray themed works. Greg Knott will show large colorful triptychs on canvas, and Marlin Lord will prove that the rumor of the demise of black and white photography is premature. The exhibit will also feature work from local poet BRASH. The exhibition will run through November 29th, and is free and open to the public.

A special photography workshop on the Ink Jet Transfer Process, presented by Amy Bruce, will be held on Saturday, November 14, from 1 – 4 pm. Please check the DRA website for information and to register. Please note that space is limited, registration must be submitted by 11/7, participants must be over 18 and there is a fee.

Gallery hours are Thursdays, noon to 4 pm; Fridays noon to 9 pm; Saturdays, 10 am - 9 pm and Sundays, Noon - 6 pm. The gallery will be closed on Thanksgiving. For more information, contact Rob Rudick at 301.270.2323. The Del Ray Artisans gallery may be reached at 703.838.4827. Web Site: www.TheDelRayArtisans.org.
