“Theresa Sareo: Alive Again” – A FREE Film and Live Performance in Honor of Veterans Day

Theresa Sareo is a New York-based singer/songwriter/trauma survivor with a powerful story to tell. In June 2002 she was struck by an impaired driver and her injuries forced the amputation of her right leg. Since the accident, Theresa's courageous dedication to her recovery has inspired the amazing journey of her life and career.

The documentary film, “Theresa Sareo: Alive Again” offers an up-close and personal look into her physical and emotional recovery, and how it affected her life and music career. By sharing her personal story, Ms. Sareo focuses on teaching how to heal and inspire awareness regarding the physical and psychological effects of trauma, and navigating through personal life challenges.

Theresa was featured on NBC's Today with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, CNN's Larry King Live, in New York Magazine, appeared on NBC's Law and Order, and was the keynote speaker on healthcare issues with NY Senator Charles Schumer and Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton in NYC. She also wrote and performed “It’s Time For A Change” for Mrs. Clinton in Washington, D.C. in honor of her 2008 Presidential Candidacy run.

After composing the wounded warrior anthem, "Through A Soldier's Eyes," Theresa proudly made history by becoming the first civilian performer to sing the "National Anthem" at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C. (where the song was inspired) and also the first singer asked to tour the U.S. Army's Warrior Transition Units in Germany and Italy (European Command) through their Department of Ministries, making her a popular trauma-survivor advocate and supporter of wounded military world-wide. The tour included bedside visits at Landstuhl Military Hospital at the Ramstein AFB and a special performance for it's medical staff, Commanders and Cadre.

She is also the first American singer to perform for patients, staff and Italian military at the Celio Military Hospital in Rome, Italy, sponsored by the Embassy of the U.S. of America to Italy. She has visited and performed at VA Hospitals and Army Bases throughout the country including the Brooklyn and Manhattan VAs, James A. Haley VA in Tampa, Tennessee Valley VA, Hudson Valley VA, Bath, NY VA, and at Forts Bragg, Lee, Eustice, Gordon, Drum, Monmouth, Hamilton, MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL and the Fighting 69th Regiment in Manhattan.

Theresa has headlined and co-produced Military Appreciation Concerts throughout Florida which raised tens of thousands for the Gramatica Family Foundation and the Spinal Chord Injury Ward at the Tampa VA Hospital. She also opened for the famed LT. Dan Band to raise money for a smart home built by the Gary Sinese Foundation, for wounded warrior and first quadruple amputee to survive from the Iraq War, Brendon Marrocco.
