With jazz guitar icon Al Di Meola as a childhood neighbor, Carlos grew up surrounded by world-famous guitarists. At age 7, he began an 11-year curriculum at Carnegie Hall with classical and flamenco great Juan de la Mata, a close associate to flamenco guitar legend, Sabicas. Having mastered compositions by Segovia, Bach, and Barrios, he moved from New York City to Hollywood, enrolling at Musicians Institute under the tutelage of legendary Wrecking Crew session player Tommy Tedesco (Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra). While these visionary icons had a profound impact on his musical development, he also counts The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Philip Glass and the soulful music emanating from Muscle Shoals as influences and inspiration. In addition to composing/producing original music, Carlos teaches guitar privately and counts Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, actress Marg Helgenberger (CSI, China Beach, Under The Dome), actor Rob Morrow (Northern Exposure, Numb3rs, The Bucket List) and Brody, wife of actor Adrian Brody, as students. He also regularly coaches actors to portray musicians; most notably David Duchovny for Californication, Ambyr Childers for Ray Donovan, Gethin Anthony (Aquarius) and David Oyelowo, who played the Muddy Waters character in the film, Who Do You Love. He was also tapped as a coach for the acclaimed James Brown biopic Get On Up, which was produced by Mick Jagger and stars Viola Davis, Aloe Blacc, Jill Scott and Dan Ackroyd. He played guitar on the score of King of the Hill for three seasons and has had songs placed in the hit Freeform/ABC Family show, The Fosters, as well as major motion pictures She’s All That and Finding Holden. Before embarking on his solo career, Carlos fronted successful bands that toured with Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Willie Porter. As a solo artist, he has toured with The Bacon Brothers and Colin Hay and numerous times in Europe as a headliner, while also musical director and co-writer for the Rob Morrow Band, who play Bogie’s regularly. His most recent album, Further Down The Line, is a 12-song exposition on life and love which the Washington Times dubbed “Sheer mastery.” This will be his debut Bogie’s performance with his own band. Lots of tasty solos are on the horizon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRsnl_oyziY (While My Guitar Gently Weeps) MAUREEN TOTH Born and raised in Huntington Station, New York, Toth attended Boston University where she studied voice and began to develop her range. After getting her degree she attended theatre school in Manhattan and then relocated to the Bay Area, where she continued to pursue her musical interests before transplanting to Los Angeles in 2000. Once in L.A., she stepped into the vibrant singer-songwriter scene and met Bernie Larsen, a renowned touring guitarist for Lucinda Williams, Melissa Etheridge, Rickie Lee Jones, Jackson Browne and a member of David Lindley's El Rayo-X. The two began collaborating which resulted in the 2004 album, Deven Kay and 2010’s, Shine, a ten-song master work of nuanced Americana and lyric driven melodies. Cut Flowers, an introspective EP produced by Jim McGorman (Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani, Michelle Branch, Kate Voegele), followed in 2016, with BLUR, a road-ready, rock-leaning co-production with Carlos Calvo (David Duchovny, Rob Morrow, Adam Levine) and Paul Smith (Lucinda Williams, A Fine Frenzy, Bright Eyes) releasing in May 2019. Over the course of the past year, Toth, Calvo and Smith dialed into something transformative, producing five distinctive and satisfying songs exploring humanity, touching on tough subjects that highlight the human condition, and blending the folk and rock genres. Eschewing the more folk-infused sound of Cut Flowers, Toth felt BLUR demanded a more powerful sound. On the bright Tom Petty stroll of the title track, Toth explores that strange state between sleeping and awake, the living and the dead and bridging that gap or blurring those lines reaching for someone you have lost while closing track, the free-flowing “Island,” is a jangly 6-minute jam that rides straight into the breaking sunrise. Championed by Women of Substance Radio, the inherent quality in Toth's forthright material has drawn comparisons to Patty Griffin, Joni Mitchell, and Shelby Lynne. Review Fix declared her material to be "charming coffee house concoctions, warm and full of spice” akin to Sara Bareilles, while Yahoo! Voices applauded the "beautiful storytelling” that "whisks you away like an instant getaway." Aside from her songwriter’s endeavors, Toth owns and runs Eastern Talent, a successful below the line talent agency in Los Angeles that reps Editors, Cinematographers, Production Designers, and Costume Designers for film and television. Her clients' work on feature films include projects like The Descendants, 22 Jump Street, and Love Simon and narrative television such as Verdon Fosse, The Romanoffs, and True Detective. For her debut appearance at Bogie’s, Toth will have Calvo on lead guitar, Dave Sutton, from Lucinda Williams’ band, on bass, vocalist Lora Ball, and drummer Marc Slutsky. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dxFrXbVge0 (Live from Hotel Cafe)
